SINGLE NET - BLACK 0.6 Stops Flame Retardant Reduction of light without altering the pattern or its color temperature.
SINGLE NET - WHITE 0.5 Stops Flame Retardant Reduction of light without altering the pattern or its color temperature. Effect is softened by the introduction of a significant amount of ambient bounce produced by the white fabric.
DOUBLE NET - BLACK 1.2 Stops Flame Retardant Greater reduction of light without altering the pattern or its color temperature.
DOUBLE NET - WHITE 1.0 Stops Flame Retardant Greater reduction of light without altering the pattern or its color temperature.  Effect softened by the introduction of a significant amount of ambient bounce.
TRIPLE NET - BLACK 1.8 Stops Flame Retardant Greatest amount of light reduction without altering the pattern or color temperature. Triple nets are not made in Butterflies or Overheads.
HALO SILK - WHITE 1.6 Stops Self Extinguishing Softens and diffuses direct light. Also introduces a significant amount of ambient bounce.
HALO SILK - BLACK 1.8 Stops Self Extinguishing Softens and diffuses direct light. Introduces no ambient bounce.
CHINA SILK - WHITE 1.0 Stops Not Treated Softens and diffuses direct light. Creates a significant amount of ambient bounce. Less diffusion and light loss than Halo Silk.
CHINA SILK - BLACK 1.0 Stops Not Treated Softens and diffuses direct light without the introduction of ambient bounce.
LIGHT CHINA SILK - WHITE 0.7 Stops Not Treated Less diffusion and reduction of light than China Silk. Introduces significant ambient bounce.
GRID CLOTH 2.6 Stops Self Extinguishing Heavy diffusion of direct light. Introduces a significant amount of ambient bounce. U.V. stabilizer tends to make this fabric noisy in wind.
LIGHT GRID CLOTH 2.0 Stops Self Extinguishing Medium diffusion of direct light. Introduces a significant amount of ambient bounce. U.V. stabilizer tends to make this fabric noisy in wind.
QUARTER GRID CLOTH 1.0 Stops Self Extinguishing Light diffusion of direct light. Introduces a significant amount of ambient bounce. U.V. stabilizer tends to make this fabric noisy in wind.
1/4 STOP SILK - WHITE 0.6 Stops Self Extinguishing Slightly diffuses direct light. Introduces ambient bounce produced by the white fabric.
1/4 STOP SILK - BLACK 0.7 Stops Self Extinguishing Slightly diffuses direct light.
LAVENDER NET 0.13 Stops Not Treated Very slight reduction of direct light without changing the pattern. Because this fabric is so sheer, very little ambient bounce or color is introduced. Not available in Butterflies and Overheads.
SOLID 100% Flame Retardant Block Light.
CLAYCOAT - B & W N/A Self Extinguishing The photographic white surface is used for bounce while the black side can either block light or prevent ambient bounce.
GRIFFOLYN - T-55 - B & W N/A Self Extinguishing White side is used for bounce, black side to block Light. Both sides are shiny. White has grey cast due to black showing through.
SILVER LAMÉ N/A Self Extinguishing Soft reflector.
GOLD LAMÉ N/A Self Extinguishing Soft reflector, warm tone.
CHROMA KEY - GREEN N/A Self Extinguishing Used as Chroma Key Background.
CHROMA KEY - BLUE N/A Self Extinguishing Used as Chroma Key Background.

SILENT LIGHT GRID 2.0 Stops Self Extinguishing Medium diffusion of direct light. Introduces a significant amount of ambient bounce.  Similar to Light Grid Cloth without the U.V. coating.
SILENT QUARTER GRID 1.0 Stops Self Extinguishing Light diffusion of direct light. Introduces a significant amount of ambient bounce.  Similar to Quarter Grid without the U.V. coating.

 

KEY to SAFETY CHARACTERISTICS

Flame Retardant = Chemically Treated. This application may deteriorate when exposed to damp or wet conditions.
Self Extinguishing = The fabric will not sustain a flame without a flame from another source being present.
Inherently Flame Retardant = Fibers used in making these fabrics will not sustain a flame.

Most self extinguishing and Inherently Flame Retardant fabrics will melt in high heat and become liquid, which can cause extremely serious burns!

 

WARNING
Gripware uses only the best fabrics available in the manufacture of its products. Where possible, we use fabrics that are "Inherently Flame Retardant", "Self Extinguishing", or have been treated with a chemical process to make them "Flame Retardant." Some materials, due to industry artistic demands are not treated. Please check Fabric Specifications, this Chapter.

It is important to understand that chemicals used to flame retard fabrics lose those properties when exposed to damp or wet conditions!

Since there is no visible way to determine the extent of flame retardation of any fabric, we strongly urge that extreme caution be taken with all fabrics in the potentially dangerous environment of a motion picture, television or still photographic set!

Many Inherently flame retardant or self extinguishing fabrics will melt when subjected to a flame. This liquid remains hot enough to cause extremely serious burns long after flame is extinguished!
